CHARITY IN D BRAIN NOT D HEART ???
a study found that this part of the brain is more active in people who engaged in helping behaviour.
the region, which lies in the top and back of the brain is linked to sorting out social relationships. US scientists scanned the brains of 45 volunteers using a technique that can watch the brain working.
participants either played a computer game or watched a computer play a game on its own. in either case, winning the game earned money for a chosen charity.
volunteers were also questioned about how often they put others before themselves.
the brain scan revealed that the most charitable showed the most activity in the posterior superior temporal salcus when the camputer game was being played.
the scientists think altruistic behaviour originates from the way people view the world rather than how they act on it; perceiving others' actions as meaningful is critical to altruism.
kami dah hampir menamatkan block ethics utk PBL kali ni. Alhamdulillah, lega saya dibuatnya. block ethics mungkin block yg paling saya tak suka walaupun senior selalu tekankan bhw block ni akan jadi paling best sebab byk isu boleh dibangkitkan. tapi nampaknya bg saya sendiri, block ini paling memenjara fikiran saya.
oh,berita kat atas ni dr Metro Dublin.tak sempat nak diulas skrg, kene prepare utk PBL ethics terakhir =P.
10 WASIAT HASSAN AL-BANNA
1. Apabila mendengar azan, segeralah mendirikan solat walau dalam keadaan apa sekali pun.

Hmm..ini brain teasers. mata manusia sering tertipu dgn ilusi optik. serupa juga dlm hidup ni, kadang2 apa yg kita nampak scr zahirnya belum tentu adalah perkara yg hakikat, terutama dlm mengekalkan ikatan ukhwah sesama insan. ada byk ranjau dan onak dlm perjalanan yg kalau kita cuma menggunakan mata zahir utk mentafsir, maka kita akan tertipu dgn ilusi dunia. Allah berfirman dlm surah al-Hajj ayat 46;
(sesungguhnya buta itu bukanlah buta mata tetapi buta hati yg berada di dlm dada)
memang betul, sesungguhnya yg sebenar-benar buta adalah hati yg tak mampu utk menilai sesuatu. buta mata cuma tak nampak jalan di dunia, tetapi kalau buta hati, tak nampak jalan menuju akhirat yg akan menjadi destinasi pasti bg setiap insan. buta hati menghalang kita dari melihat kebenaran walau betul-betul berada di depan mata. oleh itu sahabat2 sekalian, jangan biarkan diri kita tertipu dgn ilusi dunia, harta, pangkat , wanita (hehe, harapnya SIS x baca) dan etc. yg tak kekal...
aperpun, trylah brain teasers kat bawah ni, ktorang (rumet n hosemet) riuh rendah dgn bende ni..merapatkan ukhwah=)
btol ke tak ni???
tak tau betul ke tak gambar ni,agak confuse jugak. hmm.. takkan DBP berdiam diri jer kot.. tapi kalau betul pun apa salahnya ;).time2 gini rase bertuah pulak jadik rakyat klate, dahlah makanan bervariasi, kepimpinan ulama' insha Allah, bahasa pon unik..(skrg ni dah agak ketandusan ide, agak bz dgn PBL ethics..)
~PESANAN SEORANG TEMAN~
On the other hand, if in seeking knowledge your intention and purpose between God most high and yourself is to receive guidance and not merely to acquire information, then rejoice. The angels will spread their wings for you when you walk, and the denizens of the sea will ask pardon from God for you when you run.
Here, then I give you counsel. If you find your heart drawn towards it and your soul docile and receptive, go ahead, make for the end, launch out into the oceans of knowledge. If, on the other hand, you find that when you turn to the matter seriously, your heart tends to procrastinate and to put off actually doing anything about it, then you may be sure that the part of your soul which is drawn to seek knowledge is the evil-inclined irrational soul. [So setan guys] Satan’s aim is to unite you with those ‘who most lose their works, whose effort goes astray in this present life though they think they are doing well’
‘O God, I take refuge with Thee from knowledge which does not benefit, from the heart which does not humble itself, from the act which is not lifted up to God, and from the prayer which is not heard’
People who seek knowledge are of three types. There is the man who seeks knowledge to take it as his traveling-provision for the life to come; he seeks thereby only the Countenance of God and the mansion of eternity; such man is saved. Then there is the man who seeks it FOR THE HELP IS GIVES IN HIS TRANSITORY LIFE IN OBTAINING POWER, INFLUENCE, AND WEALTH, and at the same time is aware of the ultimate truth and in his heart has some perception of the worthlessness of his condition and the vileness of his aim. Such man is in jeopardy, for if his appointed comes upon him suddenly before he repents, a bad end of life is to be feared for him and his fate will depend upon the will (of God). A third man has been overcome by Satan. HE HAS TAKEN KNOWLEDGE AS A MEANS TO INCREASE HIS WEALTH, THE BOAST OF HIS INFLUENCE AND TO PRIDE HIMSELF ON HIS NUMEROUS FOLLOWING. BY HIS KNOWLEDGE HE EXPLORES EVERY AVENUE WHICH OFFERS A PROSPECT OF REALIZING WHAT HE HOPES FOR THIS WORLD. Moreover, he believes in himself that he has an important place in God’s eyes because with his garb and jargon he bears the brand and stamp the scholar despite his mad desire of this world both openly and in secret. Such men will perish, being stupid, and easily deceived, for there is no hope for their repentance since they fancy that they are acting well.
Only through piety is anything really achieved; only the pious are guided. Piety designates carrying the commands of God most high and turning aside from what He prohibits, and thus has two parts.” (al-Ghazali)

(PERHATIAN: GAMBAR HANYALAH PERHIASAN SEMATA-MATA)
Abu Musa Al-Ash`ari, radi Allahu 'anhu, reported that the Prophet, sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam said:
"The example of a good companion and a bad one is the bearer of musk and the worker on the fires. A bearer of musk would give you some, you might buy some from him, or you might enjoy the fragrance of his musk. The worker on the fires, on the other hand, might spoil your clothes with sparks from his bellows, or you get a bad smell from him."
Bukhari and MuslimLessons from this Hadith:Who are the top 5 people you hang out with? List them. Now look at their qualities and you'll notice that you are a product of the sum of them. Do they have the outstanding qualities that you seek? If not, then it's time to find some bearers of musk that you can truly smell great from.

MOGADISHU, Somalia - A U.S. airstrike hit targets in southern Somalia where Islamic militants were believed to be sheltering suspects in the 1998 bombings of two U.S. embassies, Somali officials and witnesses said Tuesday. Many people were reported killed.
Helicopter gunships launched new attacks Tuesday near the scene of a U.S. airstrike in the village of Hayi, although it was not clear if they were American or Ethiopian aircraft, and it was not known if there were any casualties.
Two helicopters "fired several rockets toward the road that leads to the Kenyan border," said Ali Seed Yusuf, a resident of the town of Afmadow in southern Somalia.
The aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower arrived off Somalia's coast and launched intelligence-gathering missions over Somalia, the military said. Three other U.S. warships are conducting anti-terror operations off the Somali coast.
U.S. warships have been seeking to capture al-Qaida members thought to be fleeing Somalia after Ethiopia invaded Dec. 24 in support of the government and drove the Islamic militia out of the capital and toward the Kenyan border.
The White House would not confirm the attack, nor would the
Pentagon' Pentagon.
But a U.S. government official said at least one AC-130 gunship was used. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of the operation's sensitivity.
AC-130 gunships have elaborate sensors that can go after targets day or night. They are operated by the Special Operations Command and have been used heavily against the Taliban in
Afghanistan' Afghanistan.
The airstrike occurred Monday evening after the suspects were seen hiding on a remote island on the southern tip of Somalia, close to the Kenyan border, Somali officials said. The island and a site near the village of Hayi, 155 miles to the north, were hit.
President Abdullahi Yusuf told journalists in the capital, Mogadishu, that the U.S. "has a right to bombard terrorist suspects who attacked its embassies." Deputy Prime Minister Hussein Aideed told The Associated Press the U.S. had "our full support for the attacks."
But others in the capital said the attacks would only increase anti-American sentiment in the largely Muslim country.
"U.S. involvement in the fighting in our country is completely wrong," said Sahro Ahmed, a 37-year-old mother of five.
Already, many people in predominantly Muslim Somalia had resented the presence of troops from neighboring Ethiopia, which has a large Christian population and has fought two brutal wars with Somalia, most recently in 1977.

mixed reaction over saddam's execution
Salaam,
This is my personal view, so disregard anything u find offensive which i highly doubt.
I think after so many years of cruel and inhumane dictatorship it was about time Saddams regime collapsed and he was tried against all forms of cruelty to humanity, such as the atrocious act of gasing the kurds in Halabja. Although the Iraqi people were responsible for his execution, i think it was to an extreme extent stirred by the United Nations, the invasion of the coalition forces etc. I wont go any further into that.
The execution Saddam Hussain had served did not bring any form of justification to the mass murders he ordered under his rule of presidency and during the major battle in 1988. Killing him in such an instance will not bring peace amongst the shites and sunnis and neither will it bring back anyones loved ones that were killed during his regime.
Furthermore, if we look deeply into this matter, we do not have a clue about exactly how Saddam was treated during his court trials, infact we do not know what questions were asked or answered. Since his capture, the media has concealed alot of things that the public have not been shown, for example the complete judiciary procedure. We have not heard enough from Saddams side, which was unfair and unjust.
With full honesty i really think Saddam deserved a prison sentence, killing off a cruel wicked man has only made them look the same, pretty much on his level. If death equals death then this world will never see peace, only continuous bloodbaths and the rule of unjust tyrannies. Saddam has just been made 'history', nothing else. I wonder if Milosevic would have been given the death sentence if he had not died? Infact i would like to see Bush also serve the same punishment for all his 'crimes against humanity'. What an ignorant world we live in. The outcome of this is not Peace and Unity amongst the tribes or nations of Iraq. The US have not finished what they have started, we are yet to see alot more bloodshed, until then people should continue praying for democracy which may never exist.
I pray for my brothers and sisters. Allah knows best.

No. As simple as it could be No: Saddam death is not the answer.
It is not the magic key that turns Iraq from a hell to a paradise.
The issue is bigger than Saddam...
They message Arab and those who stand before their face
So let's wait and watch to where their wise decisions will take the poor people who are under them
It is sufficient here to only write Mr. Presdient's comment right after the execution, he said :" After all , this is the guy who tried to kill my dad"
Many thanks to our wise politicians!!! and we are waiting to see who is the next?!
PRESS RELEASE:
SADDAM’S EXECUTION: INVITATION TO MILITANCY
The execution of Saddam Hussain, former Iraqi President, did not come as a surprise because we have noticed since the advent of America in Iraq that Saddam could not get a fair trial. We recall the incessant harassment of the defence lawyers and the latter’s several complaints. Saddam’s execution was too speedy, too harsh, too barbaric. The whole world could see the remote control button as it was pressed from the White House.
The timing of the execution is embarrassing for Muslims all over the world. We were offered Saddam’s neck for Id Al-Kabir ram. America still does not understand the Muslims and has little respect for them. MURIC is not inclined to blame the puppet regime of Al-Maliki or his kangaroo court.
While we affirm that Saddam was never a keen Islamist and he had no dream of a Pan-Islamica during his reign, he was able to hold Iraq together in spite of that country’s diversifications. We call attention to the hully-bully being witnessed in the city of Baghdad and the topsy-turvy in places like Barquba and Tikrit.
Neither the majority Shiites nor the American invaders have learnt its lesson in Iraq. What Iraq needs is true reconciliation based on genuine spirit of forgiveness on both sides. Saddam’s execution has messed up that chance and Iraq will never be the same again. The Shiite majority status is too slim for them to expect to silence the minority Sunnis. They have failed to do that in the past three years and Saddam’s execution is going to militarize the average moderate Sunni.
Finally, MURIC asserts that by stylishly executing Saddam Hussain, his enemies have inadvertently turned him to a hero who will live forever in the hearts of his admirers throughout the world. Saddam's enemies have turned him into a martyr.

I have surprisingly mixed emotions ofthe execution,
I am a Christian and am quite young and do not quite understand the ways of the world as i'm sure no one does. I understand that perhaps it would be dangerous to keep this man alive as he was incredibly verocious and dangerous...i do believe that God can forgive someone but it's difficult for us to judge as we do not know the heart or mind of this seemingly cruel hearted man... I've no idea as all i;ve heard is influenced y the media.. I have watched the video and i cried watching it...
I wonder what he was thinking at the time.. i wonder how mixed and incredibly confusing the emotions of his family were... I can't findthe words to describe what i feel about this event. but i do think that it's extremely important that no more people die over this situation...
The world is in such a mess, i wish Christians and Muslims would work together to understand eachother.
di bawa ni sebahagian dr artikel ust. Hasrizal yg saya petik;
BERAKHIRNYA SEORANG SADDAM
Saddam bakal digantung dua jam lagi!
facts r facts.theories r theories. evolution?
kat bawah ni ada satu quote yg agak best juga utk dipertimbangkan. dah lupa dari mana diambilnya;
Well evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome.
as a muslim, we go back to the basic , refer to the holy Quran
revision over my views -December 31 2005
I like the fact that his father, Joseph Kennedy was definitely against the world war. He laughed at the idea of America as the police of the world. No, he didn’t laugh like what we do at Senario’s stupid jokes. They were intellectual’s remarks and laughs which were different. I’m not going to talk about this as I am myself not good at political history but let just conclude that he was one of those rare 1940’s people that believe in peace as a way out of problems. However I am quite annoyed knowing that they sympathized with Jews and that the young Kennedy saw the uprising of Jews in Palestine as something positive and should be followed by Jews oppressed by Nazi. It was an opinion anybody with brain would do at the moment. After all, he wasn’t a Muslim. How could he think otherwise? Our hatred towards jews nowadays is mostly because we are Muslims and that they are terrorizing our brothers and sisters in Palestine. I don’t see reason for me to comment on this. It will not bring justice to both sides (Kennedy’s and our’s).
There is a quotation from Joseph Kennedy that I would like to share. It is thought provoking as I feel it is; “we cannot dominate the world, but we can make ourselves too expensive to conquer. War at any time would be hideous. At present or in the foreseeable future war would wreck our present civilization”. it was the words of a civilized person , I would say. Not like bush or Blair, for sure.
~muhasabah diri~buat daie'

Andainya kematian kau tangisi
Pusara kau siram dengan air matamu
Maka diatas tulang belulangku yang dah luluh
Nyalakaniah obor untuk umat ini
Dan
Lanjutkanlah gerak merebut kemenangan
Sahabat,
Kematianku hanyalah suatu perjalanan
Memenuhi panggilan kekasih yang merindu
Taman-taman indah disyurga Tuhan
Terhampar menanti
Burung-burungnya berpesta menyambutku
Dan berbahagialah hidupku di sana
Sahabat,
Puaka kegelapan pastikan lebur
Fajarkan menyingsing
Dan alam ini kan disinari cahaya lagi
Relakan lah rohku terbang menjelang rindunya
Jangan gentar berkelana ke alam abadi
Di sana cahaya fajar memancar.

TO LIVE A LIFE OF PLENTY;
I SEEK NOT FRIENDS SO MANY
TO LIVE A LIFE OF PROFLIGACY;
I SEEK HE WHO IS AL-GHAZALI
I SEEK HE WHO IS AL-SHAFIE
TO UNRAVEL THE SECRETS IN THE HOLY BOOK
SEEKING INSPIRATION
TO UNRAVEL THE SECRETS IN THE WAYS OF PROPHET
SEEKING GUIDANCE
I LIVE ONLY FOR HIM MY LORD
HE IS MY COMPANION
HE IS MY GUARDIAN
HE SUFFICES
I LIVE A LIFE FULL OF MEANING
IMMERSED IN THE PEACE WITHIN
A Muslim women…tries to make people happy =P
For this reason Islam tells us that the reward of one who makes Muslims happy will be the greater happiness that Allah will bestow upon him on the Day of Resurrection:
“Whoever meets his Muslim brother and makes him happy with something that Allah likes, Allah will make him happy on the Day of Resurrection”
The clever Muslim woman will find different ways to make her sisters happy in ways that are permitted- a warm greeting, a kind word, a clever comment, a pleasant joke, a good news, a friendly smile, a sincere visit, a charming gift, always keep in touch, sincere help, comforting consolation- which will open their hearts, sow the seeds of love and strengthen the ties of friendship and sisterhood.
